Samsung Galaxy Watch 7

Galaxy Watch 7 is the right Android watch if you want a full-size 40mm or 44mm case, Wear OS apps, Google Wallet, and a speaker that can take a short call without pulling out the phone. Health sensors cover heart rate, SpO2, ECG, and sleep. Battery is still a 1–2 day watch. It is water-resistant to 5 ATM for swimming and rain, not a dive computer. Skip it if you only use iPhone or you refuse nightly charging.

Fit and size

The 44mm Galaxy Watch 7 wears like a normal watch, not a slim fashion piece. On a typical wrist the lug-to-lug sits balanced and the 20mm band does not look undersized. Drop to 40mm if you want it lighter or you wear dress shirts with tight cuffs. The aluminum case is light enough for all-day wear; it will not have the heft of a Fenix.

Day to day

Notifications, Wallet, and Google apps are the reason to pick Wear OS over a cheap Bluetooth watch. You can reply to messages, start a timer, and pay without unlocking the phone. The bezel-less touch screen is fast; missed swipes happen more with wet fingers after a run. Samsung phones get the smoothest pairing and extra health extras; other Android phones still get Wear OS apps.

Battery in real use

Samsung quotes up to about 40 hours. In mixed use — always-on display off, raise-to-wake on, GPS a few times a week — plan on charging every night or every other morning. If two-day battery is a deal-breaker, this is the wrong category. Garmin and some Amazfit models still win that job.

Calls and speaker

Speaker and mic make short wrist calls usable outdoors at walking volume. Wind and gym noise still push you back to the phone. LTE models can leave the phone in a bag; Bluetooth-only depends on the phone nearby.

Fitness and health

Onboard GPS, heart rate, SpO2, and ECG cover runs, gym sessions, and weekend rides. It is not a trail computer. Recovery and training-load depth still trail Garmin. Sleep staging is useful as a trend, not a medical readout.

Water and durability

5 ATM plus IP68 covers swimming, rain, and sweat. Rinse after the pool. It is water-resistant, not a professional diving watch. Do not treat the speaker as waterproof after a swim — dry it before you expect clear calls.

Versus the previous model

Versus Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 7 moves to a newer Wear OS build and a faster processor, which you feel in app launches and Google Assistant. Battery did not take a generational leap. If you already own a Watch 6 and it is healthy, the upgrade is optional.

Consider instead: Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) — Pick Apple Watch SE instead if your daily phone is an iPhone. Calling and iMessage integration will beat any Wear OS watch on Apple's platform.
